Helen asks…

Sex offenders stay on sex offender registry for how long in the state of Missouri?

How long do sex offenders stay on the sex offender registry in the state of Missouri? If a offender moves states will there length of stay on registry follow or begin over?

Stephen Clinton answers:

Ugh, too long. I’m counting the days…

Chris asks…

How long will it take for a sex offender’s new address to appear in the Registered Sex Offenders Registry?

The sex offender moved from one city to another and has just gotten registered w/ his new probation officer and transfered all the paper work to the new city. I would like to know if anyone knows when the new address for this sex offender should appear on the internet’s Sex Offender‘s Registry. This question applies for the state of Georgia.

Stephen Clinton answers:

It should appear immediately but sometimes people dont file paperwork right away.

Carol asks…

Is there an online sex offender registry for Australia?

Besides MAKO, is there an online sex offender registry where you can search for released sex offenders living within your locality? And if there are none, why is that so?

Stephen Clinton answers:

Call the law…i have the # 911

Ken asks…

Does the sex offender registry really prevent sexual offense?

Is there any story where a sex crime was prevented due to the cause of the sex offender registry? If so let me know and tell me your source so I can verify it.

Stephen Clinton answers:

Public knowledge of a sex offender in your neighborhood allows people to protect themselves. I don’t know how many people actually look up the registry to determine that. It sort of means you are responsible for knowing that your child may be at risk if you don’t watch them constantly or maybe a female should take special precautions.

Steven asks…

Is a petition to abolish the sex offender registry a good thing?

I found a petition with over 500 signatures on it seeking to abolish the public sex offender registry.
Do you think this would be a good thing and why?
Here is the link to the petition.
Please read all of the petition before you answer the question.
